Next Meeting: June 5th, Stitch Morning followed in the afternoon with a talk from Angharad Thomas the author of "A Knitter's Guide to Gloves"

The day starts with a stitch morning and then at 1:30, a talk by our guest speaker Angharad Thomas, author of "A Knitter's Guide to Gloves", looking at Dales gloves: what makes them distinctive, where they were knitted and by whom, and how to go about knitting them now, illustrated from the Dales Countryside Museum and Angharad's collection.

What a fabulous three days of "Stitching in the Dales" with tutors Kirstie Williams and Amanda Clayton.

Here is some of the work we produced with Kirstie Williams. Our first day was an introduction to natural dyeing, followed by screen printing with mordant pastes on day two, and cyanotypes on our final day.

Below is the work produced by the students of Amanda Clayton who spent their three day workshop exploring hand stitch using the simplicity of leaves as inspiration.Their work included inlay, applique, trailing, layering, cutwork, and needle darning on a base of silk organza to emphasise transparency
