Welcome to Grassington Textile Arts Group (GTAG).
We are a small and friendly group of about 30 members meeting in a superb setting in the Yorkshire Dales. We enjoy a wide range of embroidery techniques from traditional to contemporary. Members are generous with their expertise and those new to embroidery will find a warm welcome. Access to our meeting room is now stair-free.
The aims of the Group are:
- To promote the enjoyment of the collaboration of textiles, needle, thread, craft and art as a group, and in the wider community.
- To develop skills, knowledge and learning from engaging with other artists in the form of talks and workshops.
- To promote traditional and contemporary techniques in textile work.
- To provide a platform where individuals sharing the above common interests can meet regularly.
Our members share an interest and have skills in: sewing, felt-making, embellishing, knitting, weaving, lace-making, hand embroidery, machine embroidery, crochet, patchwork, stump-work, needlepoint, appliqué, cross-stitch and many more techniques. We work with Angelina fibres, soluble fibres, wool, a range of fabrics, embroidery threads and ribbons, and other diverse media.
Meetings are held from 10:00 to 15:30 at:
The Devonshire Institute - Town Hall, 48 Main Street, Grassington, Skipton BD23 5AZ
