Next Meeting : "Tapestry Weaver" talk by Chrissie Freeth

Great excitement, our first autumn meeting on Wednesday September 1st, will be held at the Rugby Club in Threshfield. Please be very aware that we must continue with caution, the room will be well ventilated and we ask members to wear masks as a courtesy to others.

We hope to start the day with a talk from Chrissie Freeth, a tapestry weaver from Saltaire, Bradford. Chrissie has just had a huge artwork shortlisted for the Royal Academy summer exhibition.

The AGM will then take place and this will be followed by a workshop on dimensional floral textile work. Please bring a basic sewing kit and some colourful threads. Be prepared to think outside the box.

Just a reminder this year's Yarndale festival will be held at the Skipton Auction Mart 25th - 26th September. More details about the Yarndale Festival.

Next Meeting

 10:00am Wednesday August 18th - Stitch Morning

Weather permitting we are meeting up in Grassington National Parks Car Park. You will find the group sitting in the field at the far end of the car park.

It will be a chance to exchange ideas and be inspired. Please bring something you are working on at the moment.

We welcome all those interested in joining this Creative Textile Group and will resume meetings in September at the Rugby Club in Threshfield.

The photographs below have been sent from one of our members who has made a "memorabilia" book for her friends birthday present. It is full of little pockets to tuck things in, like photos, tickets and special trinkets.

Exchanging Ideas

The Grassington Textile Art Group enjoyed a beautiful August morning working outside, chatting and exchanging ideas. While some were continuing with Ann Barrans expressive stitch samplers,

others were dabbling with crazy patchworks.

Ideas for wet felted pieces from last month included warm but elegant finger less gloves.

Felted stones with added embellished texture.

Decorative needle case

Plans are to return to our inside venue in September at the Rugby Club in Threshfield. We welcome new members at our first meeting and remind present members we will be asking for the annual subs on this date. We have an excellent and exciting programme all arranged which includes "Adventures in Painting and Stitch" with Richard Box and "Experimental Embroidery" with Elnaz Yazdini.
