Next Meeting: October 2nd, Needle Felting with Elli Sari

The workshop this month is with Elli Sari-Neate, a contemporary Textile Felt Artist specialising in using sustainable wool fibres locally and ethically sourced, to create unique, felt paintings and sculptural art.

Below are examples of the stunning fabric books we looked at last session. Our enthusiastic and patient tutor Chris, came with a huge variety of various textile books and helped a number of the group begin their own pieces of work.

Next Meeting: September 18th, Stitch Day

Our next meeting is a Stitch Day and will include a demonstration of how to create various textile books. For those wishing to start a book, please bring some fabric for the pages. A loosely woven fabric like linen is often easiest to work with.

James Owen Thomas our speaker from the last meeting.

Our last meeting's talk and Powerpoint presentation were superb. James Owen Thomas, aged 23, was an excellent speaker, with a very thought provoking and illustrated presentation. The amount of art work he has produced at such a young age is breath taking. His attention to detail and colour is outstanding. The number of pieces used to create the collages from recycled papers and fabrics is unbelievable. I have had nothing but positive feedback from the group about the talk and a number of members that have since heard about it, were extra sorry to have missed it. James' gallery at Mackenzies Farm Shop, LS21 2PQ, is well worth a visit and he often gives workshops at this venue.
